Summer preventive maintenance on your inkjet printer
All inkjet printers like to periodically have ink run through them.  If you are a school, the best thing you can do is to try to run a quick cleaning cycle, say every month.  If it is possible to drop by your school over the summer, your printer nozzles will thank you.
Now available - Canson ARCHES® Aquarelle inkjet rag media
ARCHES® Aquarelle is recognized by artists as one of the most prestigious watercolor papers with a history that spans many centuries. ARCHES® master papermakers have been producing very high-quality fine art papers since 1492, and today ARCHES® is the only paper mill in France using a traditional cylinder mould process for all its papers, including ARCHES® Aquarelle Rag.

Using the traditional watercolor base, the paper has an even natural grain and a felt-marked finish. ARCHES® Aquarelle Rag is manufactured using 100% cotton which contributes to the paper’s natural beauty and feel. The pure white base does not contain any optical brightening agents (OBAs). The unique inkjet receiving layer produces prints with superb color rendition, deep blacks and pure whites offering photographers, artists and printmakers the opportunity to create images with superb tonal range, excellent highlights and mid-tones.

ARCHES® Aquarelle Rag is a prestigious paper and offers artists, printmakers and photographers alike the ability to create digital fine art prints on an authentic ARCHES® paper for both limited and open edition work.

Note that the lower cost regular Aquarelle is still available in the Canson line as well as this classic ARCHES® version.   The regular Aquarelle is a bit stiffer re laying flat and is built on a different base.

What EPSON is saying . . .
Introducing the SureColor® R5070 — an all-new, high-performance signage printing solution, only from Epson®.  Featuring breakthrough water-based resin signage inks, these innovative signage printers produce astounding quality prints at true production speeds while supporting a low total cost of ownership.

The first of its kind to feature multi-purpose resin ink, these 64" roll-to-roll signage printers consistently provide professional-quality wallpapers, fabrics, uncoated papers and traditional signage at remarkable speeds.  Designed to keep up with fast-paced print shops, the R5070 offers immediate lamination, user-replaceable PrecisionCore printheads and ultra low-cost inks for ease and savings unlike ever before.

Amazing image quality — vibrant 6-color resin inks, plus optimizer, produce astounding quality prints
Reliable color consistency — delivers consistently high image quality for repeat jobs, brand colors, wall tiling
Immediate lamination — and high scratch resistance increase total productivity
Low ink costs — just $0.155 per milliliter (R5070) and $0.125 per milliliter (R5070L) R5070L
features dual 1.5 L bulk ink packs for enhanced efficiency and reduced total cost of ownership
User-replaceable printhead — for convenient self-serviceability and minimal downtime
Supports diverse range of applications — print adhesive vinyl, banners, wall coverings, uncoated papers and more
High Print speed — state-of-the-art PrecisionCore printhead delivers high-quality images at true production speeds
Enterprise software suite — track jobs, manage variable data and streamline workflow with Epson Edge® Print
Epson signage portfolio — tackle the full spectrum of print jobs with Epson S-Series and R-Series printers

Compared to conventional Latex printers, Epson Resin printers provide:
  • Consistent color - from side to side, within a panel; between different panels - in a large mural; between jobs and later reprints, over time.  Epson piezo heads enable accurate, repeatable color.
  • Consistent print lengths  - 3 zone heating of R-Series, combined with very accurate feed length control, means panels consistently line up, side by side.
  • Much better image quality - variable drop size; smaller drop size; larger color gamut; optimizer control (laid down with ink - normal production; applied prior to ink - higher quality)
  • Lower ink costs
What JVH is saying . . .
Of course the industry leading superb image quality, bright colors and high production speeds are a given with Epson.  We especially like the new replaceable print heads which are priced at a fraction of standard Epson heads.  Unlike Canon and HP thermal inkjet heads that periodically fatigue from the heat and have to be replaced, the permanent Epson piezo heads are designed for long life . . .  but  if a new R-Series printhead happens to fail, it is user replaceable and is quite inexpensive - very nice!

Instant lamination on the Resin printers is a big deal especially in a high volume shop.  We like the increased scratch resistance and wider variety of media including papers and fabrics with minimal/no coatingThe water-based Resin inks are 2/3 the price versus Solvent, providing  lower production costs per job.

The R-Series printers have a very robust paper conveyance and transport system, unlike some Latex printers which have known telescoping issues.  Also, unlike some Latex printers, the Epson printer has consistency you can count on -the days are over worrying about trying to match a panel in a mounted multiple piece graphic.  The heavy duty Epson Resin printer is muscular, weighing in at more than
300lb heavier than the typical; latex printers out there - you are getting a lot more of everything.

For green environments such the whole of the Pacific Northwest, the Epson resin printer is perfect with its safe, non polluting water-based resin inks,

Versus solvent printers, the Epson R-Series inks are far less cost which can save many thousands of $ yearly, tens of thousands of $$ over the life of the printer.

The new Resin printers are great, but how do they compare with, and why would you instead buy the flagship Epson S-Series solvent printers?
  * The Resin printers are more expensive.  A 4-color Epson S40600 is only $10,995, versus R5070 for $18,995, and R5070L at $21,995.
  * Bundles with 54" Graphtec flagship FC9000  cutters are not available, such as the S40600/Graphtec Print Cut bundle for $15,695.
  *  White, Silver and fire-engine Red inks are not available as offered by the Epson S80600.
  * The S-Series offer stunning industry best image quality, high color gamut, high production speeds, and solid reliability.

Bottom line:  The bases are fully covered.  Depending on your needs, you can't go wrong by choosing either an Epson R-Series or S-Series printer - built and supported by the industry leader.

If you are interested in the new R-Series, we can easily arrange a personalized Zoom demo of your files being printed on an R-Series printer.  You can get all the facts and see the printer in action.  The printed images would then be mailed to you for your inspection.  Just let us know and we can make it happen for you.
