Crane of Hope

"Crane of Hope"

Camera: Canon EOS 400D
Lens: Canon EF 100-400mm
Location: Reifel Refuge, Delta B.C.
Software: Photoshop CC
Printer: Epson 7880
Medium: Ilford Gallerie Gold Fibre Silk
Inkset: UltraChrome K3 Vivid Ink

General Info:
This was my first time at Reifel Refuge and shooting with this lens.  The refuge is such a wonderful
environment and so peaceful, it didn't take long to acclimate.  I decided to create a composite image
inspired by work I've seen by Paul Brigham as well as oriental screens.  There are 13 image
layers and all but one was taken at Reifel. In the end, the final image expresses the stillness and serenity
I felt that day.  Thanks to all who voted and JVH!!  As always, the JVH Festival is a great
opportunity to learn, share, and meet other talented photographers.

Ink & Media: 12x12" print, Printed on Epson Cold Press Paper with Epson Inks by Marshall Mahler in Wenatchee
Software: Photoshop cloning to remove some distracting background elements,
NIK and Topaz software enhancements to add drama.

General Info:
The struggles and triumphs of ranchers is a subject near and dear to my heart. While in truth, Al was signing
a much happier document, the image immediately made me think of what it must be like for ranchers signing
those last documents releasing their family legacy and dreams of living the cowboy way, to the highest
bidder.  Thank you so much for your appreciation. And thank you JVH for being there
for artists who want to find the best way to express their imagination in print.
